Is that a picture of Paul Ryan? Significance?

Paul Ryan and the Tea Party are fronts and tools of the Koch brothers – and ought to be investigated!

There is just NO righteous indignation like Republican righteous indignation.

BTW, why should ANY political organization be granted tax exempt status?

The most patriotic Americans do not die for their Country they pay their fair and legal taxes to support soldiers and everything else the “government of the people” does to make America great. Only Monaco and Luxembourg have no income taxes and look at their place among nations, LOL

Where are the crosshairs? Some groups do require targeting. Anyone who disagrees must be a member of one of these groups. Incidentally, nothing says that any action was taken or not taken because of the TEA PARTY affiliations. Why complain?

The very fact that it happened is a serious violation of IRS regulations and may potentially have even been illegal.
    []
Imagine if a group you belonged to was flagged by the IRS simply for being “unpopular” and you can see how frightening it might be.

The IRS is a dangerous organization when it is used for political purposes to punish enemies of whoever is in power at the time, and has ruined many lives with their bullying tactics.

    @Tigger

The NAACP was targeted by the IRS in 2004, it’s never appropriate to have the IRS used politically, but it certainly isn’t a new problem.

‘Yet you approve of the DNC receiving Tax Exempt Status.’
    -
Why would I approve of that?

A regime that uses it’s tax collectors to target it’s political opposition is nothing more than a tyranny.

We will soon witness a rare bipartisan cumbaya moment, where politicians (starting with Obama, who opened the bidding with “Outragious!”) from both sides of the isles will fall all over themselves to agree with the statement above. Republicans will then call for FBI investigations and Congressional hearing to find out how high up the culpability was in a search for the truth. Democrats will resist this effort, because they are never interested in truth,
and claim that any effort to search for truth is political.

While this unfolds, we will be treated with posts on GoComics from Daily Kook premium members who disagree with the statement at the top.

so, they are upset because they were requesting tax exempt status for their organization. superpac. how are anti-tax, anti-spending groups qualify as social welfare organization?

The information requested went above and beyond what is normally required.
    []
For example, a Tea Party group near Waco (Texas) was required to:
    []
    1. List every last guest who ever appeared on their radio show for a two year period and denote the topic of each episode.
    []
    2. Provide a list of every person who was on their e-mail and mailing list.
    []
    3. Provide a copy of every last official e-mail sent out over the last two years.
    []

    1. would give the IRS the names of every last person who could conceivably be linked to the organization, while 1 and 3 are incredibly difficult bookkeeping tasks.
      []
In other words, getting the certification would mean forking over sensitive data and data that would be difficult to put together.

I wonder how many Democrats realize how their tactics bring a certain name to mind; Richard Nixon.
