Ow. Drawing “Dugout Doug” – one of the great phony “brilliant generals” of all time to represent the Pentagon – nasty!

There are three actual reasons why the far right Republicans oppose the Hagel Nomination:
[]
He was nominated by Obama
He was nominated by Obama
Hew nominated by that durty, Marxist. Muslim-Sociailst. Keen-yun, BAY-rack, Hew-sane, Obama

They liked him well enough until he showed he thought for himself instead of jumping thru Faux News’ hoops and criticized Palin as unfit presidential material. I think a guy who looks at facts rather than trying to fit facts into his world view is a good choice.

I served in the National Guard, and I would vote for him just BECAUSE he served as an enlisted soldier!!

The real reason the Pentagon hates him is that he is willing to admit that the DoD budget is overinflated, full of useless fat and in need of trimming.

The republicans have a history of trashing people who have actually served in the military. Even guys like McCain who served in the military and were subsequently trashed by the Republicans like to trash people who served in the military. Go figure.

The Republicans block every appointment Mr. Obama makes. Over 100 judges are waiting for congressional approval, but Mr. Obama is unwilling to fight for his judge nominees when he is being blocked on so many other issues he considers important.
This attitude of, you can’t have what you want unless you give us what we want is wrong and directly that of which Geo. Washington warned us when he told us to avoid political parties.
Mr. Hagel is just another chess piece in this insipid game being played between parties and branches of government. It is dishonorable, unethical, but sadly, not illegal.
Please write to your legislators and tell them, respectfully, what you think on each of the very important issues facing us.
If you have time to write on GC, you can make time once a month or so to write to our legislators.
Respectfully,
C.

@ne7minder55
Much of the fat is Congressional pork bringing money back to the state represented and buying things the military doesn’t even want.

Whenever I hear the name John McCain I can only think of one thing and that is, he was willing to put Sarah Palin a heartbeat away from being President.

Boehner is a perfect example of asking for military pork. He wanted Ohio to be chosen as a SECOND location for an engine to be built for a plane that was being phased out.
It would be so much better to use this money for infrastructure in these states – our bridges, etc, have been rated D or F for YEARS.

“The Republicans block every appointment Mr. Obama makes. Over 100 judges are waiting for congressional approval,….”
♦
From whitehouse.gov:
133 out of 186 nominees confirmed. 22 more have passed committee. This is out of date since the last time it was updated was March 13, 2012.
♦
Per Wikipedia as of January 2, 2013:
173 judges confirmed
31 awaiting Senate action
75 vacancies (no nominations for these vacancies?)
If your source included the 75 vacancies and there are no nominations for those 75, then your source misused numbers. It also must be noted that there is no definitive way to tell whether the 31 nominees awaiting action are a part of the 75 listed vacancies in the article.

The Republicans oppose him because Obama chose him.
.
That is all.

I like Hagel because he was an enlisted man, same as me when I served during ’Nam. I sick and tired of corrupt generals like General BeTrayUs getting our brave soldiers killed so they can look good claiming victory.
