You gotta love the Libertarians! “We don’t want the government to provide good schools, efficient courts and reliable transportation systems.”
What a laugh riot! The poorest countries in the world don’t provide free education - we call them the Third World, and when the IMF (or the US Army) builds infrastructure projects like dams and electric plants, the biggest challenge is finding indigents with enough education to run them.
If the primary role of government is to protect the rights of the individual, then efficient courts are a must. Otherwise, forget about going to work because if I decide to seize your property while you’re gone, you have no recourse.
As for reliable transportation, most of our “self-made wealth” would evaporate without the ability to reliably transport goods and services. Why do you think China is asking for LA’s help to solve its 18-day traffic jams? Because free markets are seriously impaired if you can’t move the goods!
