Jane's World is best described as a smart ensemble comedy, blending the classic comic strip style of Lynn Johnston with the racier writing style of shows like Sex and the City and Friends. Jane is the lesbian heir to the hard-luck Charlie Brown, somehow always winding up as the punch line in her own comic.

Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it. Vegans and Vegetarians rule.

Where did the line come from, ‘I don’t eat what my food eats!’

And vegans die earlier.

I’d heard it as “Vegetables are what food eats before it becomes food,” and i first encountered it (i think) in an SF book that was a collaboration between John Ringo and the Rocket City Redneck himself, Travis Taylor.

… veggies.

The trouble arises when some manufacturer decides that vegetarians ought to eat something that resembles meat. A load of c**p.
.
I’m not a herbivore but I like vegetables and each one is different. Why make them taste (or look) like meat. I’m sure Gweedo would agree.

You should have tried the Loma Linda vegetable “burgers” available in the early 60s. Totally vile. What’s available these days is so far ahead it’s incredible. Had a veggie hod dog that was pretty tasty, but the color was unnatural in the extreme.
Really, if you want to do a vegetarian diet try cuisine from countries that it’s normal in. Fake meat is a sort of cop-out.

I eat veggies that LOOK like veggies – preferrably stir-fried or else raw.
I ALSO eat meat, because either God or Mom Nature built HUMANS as OMNIVORES; that means we are DESIGNED/EVOLVED (you pick, it’s YOUR dime) to THRIVE on the PROTEIN from MEAT, and the CARBOHYDRATES from VEGGIES. Starches and Fats are optional for sources – but we NEED those, too (although not as much as we Americans consume, I’ll be FIRST to admit).
It’s been Scientifically PROVEN that the human brain does NOT FULLY DEVELOP on a VEGAN diet. It MUST have animal – MEAT (or at least, DAIRY, as in Cheese, and FISH) PROTEIN. And HIGH-QUALITY PROTEIN, at that.

Thank you MadYank. I’ve tried going without meat and after a few days my entire body cried out for meat. Not even soy – a complete protein – could replace what meat can do.
