    How do you expect to college ? By reading books ? I don’t think so ! Now go out an earn those athletic scholarships, so Dad and I won’t have to hock our livers to pay for your path to the pros.

    @Old_Salt

    As a retired soccer referee who has officiated high schools and youth leagues, as well as college and professionals, I have seen this attitude among parents far to often.
    Every parent thinks their kid is the next Pele or Beckham. Even my own cousin and her husband destroyed their kids love of the game by ( against my strong advice ) pushing them too hard to be junior soccer stars. By the time they turned 16, neither of them wanted anything more to do with the sport.
    I don’t care what sport it is, parents need to remember: IT’S A KIDS GAME !
