As a kid I just figured they counted differently. After all, each day began at sunset, so who knows?

They must have a lot of interesting anniversaries: the camel hair anniversary, the sheep’s hoof anniversary, the honey-and-locust anniversary, the goat-skin anniversary…

Biblical ages were mistranslations of Greek numbers, I think. The translators thought the single numbers were ten times what they were, so the guy in the cartoon would probably be about 62.

Maybe ancient creative writing since the closer to their time the more normal it is. Coincidence? I think not.

People must have been happier in those days, if spouses could stand to live together that long.

Does he have enough money to buy something for all 625 wives?

the counting of the years in the old testament is correct. They did live that long, on the average. After Noah and the flood, the years lived decreased significantly with each generation.

With less time to live, we come up with the saying “Life is too short” to be doing bad stuff or being miserable.

Go forth and do good, my child!

I don’t know about 625, but I think 650 is the unobtanium anniversary.
