@Bea – yes, I was talking about the panel layout tricks Brooke McEldowney uses. For example, in ‘Pibgorn’, he likes to use a non-standard “shards” panel layout, where it can be difficult to tell exactly what the reading order should be, so Brooke leads the reader’s eye in the right order by letting speech bubbles protrude from the first panel into the next one to be read – a subtle but quite effective guidance. Besides, his comics are just delightful and worth following in any case. ;)
