Life's a series of ups and downs, which is good news if you're on a mountain bike.
Hubris! is the story of people who enjoy their weekends more than their jobs. Hard to believe, right? Wandering in and out of The Outdoor Galore Store, the woods, the skatepark, the river and trouble, they'll risk their lives and limbs to entertain you by entertaining themselves.
Grab your helmet and whatever toys that go with it. Spend your free time with Hubris.

No particular reason to let a perfectly beautiful day go to waste. Not if you still have enough functioning digits to keep from falling off the bike.

If he makes it to his forties, Hubris is going to need a hoist to get out of bed in the morning. Most of his joints are slowing going to harden. Been there – doing that now.

Yea, me too, but well into my 50s. Sometimes I figure if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.
… “but if you ever wonder why we ride the carousel, We do it for the stories we can tell.”
And sometimes for the stories we cannot or dare not tell.

It’s a good thing that we humans are said to use only +/- 10%of our brain capacity – ‘cause with each subsequent accident, Hubris destoys x number of brain cells and the like….at this rate, he’ll be running a deficit before long!

For the past year and a little more, we’ve had an especially nice public skatepark here in town. So, at 47 I’m really learning how to skate properly. Aaaaand I’m really learning how to be careful of my knees and lower back.
Somebody needs to go ahead and invent that old-folks exo-skeleton we all need to keep on moving ourselves around.
I want mine made of carbon fiber with a nice red epoxy finish. Woo.

Check and see what Tony Stark uses for his Iron Man costume. And you know what Hubris is thinking, he can get 10 wrecks for the price of 1 doctor visit.

10 for 1! I hadn’t thought of that! Great!

You’re a brave man, Greg. I’m too accident prone to get back on skateboard or skates at 45. I’d end up in traction.

I discovered that if you go at daybreak, it’s all dads and small kids, if anybody. You can go very slow and learn all the basics over again without feeling rushed or ridiculed. Turns out to be a really fine workout, after your back and legs get used to it.

I did the skateboard back in the darkages (late 60’s) now I’m getting the itch to try snowboarding. I can sorta ski, it’s the stopping upright I haven’t gotten down

Yea, did the skate board once, took 4 weeks for the fracture to mend. Don’t think I’ll try again.

We have a skate park under one of our viaducts (highway access road that doesn’t go to a highway). Late at night I have seen 12-20 ‘boarders rollin’ along in the curb lane of our four lane downtown street – heading for that skate park. …. Kinda cool.
.
Hubris on the other hand, would crash and burn before reaching that skate park. Something about small hills and traffic lights.
