Nixon had conversations recorded via a recording system that was a poorly kept secret. Few (only two?) had access to the system. So there were not many who could be blamed for the 18 minutes.

The story about Lerner’s emails has been in the news since 2013. A more recent summary includes the House holding Lerner in contempt, and the Republican charges that it’s impossible to lose e-mails the way the current government officials say they were lost (i.e., a single failed drive on the computer dedicated for Lerner’s use, when the server backup tapes should have had full records that were easily accessible). Our modern age has provided us with far more opportunities for obfuscation and confusion than poor Nixon had when he was convinced that he had to resign.

The server backups were only kept for six months. It was a poor policy, but the fact is, there ARE traceable emails showing that the loss of data occurred and was reported BEFORE there was any controversy over the search terms. (Those emails — like many of her other communication — turned up on computers of recipients, which hadn’t fried their motherboards)

Not that anyone cares about proof, of course. Who brings “proof” to a lynching?

Was that before or after they claimed they could not turn them over till after they took a year to redacted them, which was a violation of the subpoena? Or how about it is LAW you keep back up for a few years at least. http://libertyunyielding.com/2014/06/17/irs-manual-explicitly-governs-email-backup-retention/

Democrats are criminals,as events are showing yet again.

Republicans are morons because they can’t seem to play dirty enough to do anything about it.

Maybe Al Qaeda will nuke Washington and we can elect new tur#s.

Funny how if a business is audited (by the self-same IRS) and they lost their emails, they get in big trouble. With the government, it’s an “oops.”

I know some republicans that are not morons, they do much better not playing dirty.
You tell much about yourself by that one comment

Do you in your most delusional moments, Henry, truly believe that Rosemary Woods erased that tape a year before the Watergate scandal broke? Really?

Ok, so if Payne wants to keep drawing this faux scandal, I’ll re-post mine from yesterday:
Do you neocons have the guts to actually look into the facts? Here’s some info to mull over:
As usual, FOX News is all over it, calling for an FBI investigation, fer chrissakes. ’cept in 2011, they took the computer (one, not seven to the hystericals) to a forensic lab for the criminal investigations unit. And long-standing IRS policy was to back up data for a period of six months, and then re-use the tapes. Long before the “scandal” got the Republicans and FOX News into a slather.
The IRS was able to generate 24,000 Lerner emails from the 2009 to 2011 period because Lerner had copied other IRS employees. Overall, the IRS said it produced more than 67,000 emails to and from Lerner, covering the period from 2009 to 2013. So far, more than 250 IRS employees are working on this Republican-manufactured “conspiracy”, and spent more than $10 million.
Not good enough for the hate-mongers like Payne, obviously.

Your first problem is that you get your opinions from Crooks and Liars. Your second problem is that you are a political hack.

Ok, on the first problem, why don’t you refute the article from Crooks and Liars? Go ahead. The article includes corroborating links and references. C&L exposes the hypocracies of all sides, so come on, tell us where they lie.
And as to your opinion that my second problem is that I am a “political hack”, why don’t you support that assertion? Just add a simple “, because…”
