It’s the 50th anniversery of the NY World’s Fair where the Mustang was introduced.

Henry likes a Mustang; there’s never been a doubt. I do believe if Barry’d buy – or just be seen in – one his stock price in the business World of Payne would double.

Which would put it around 2.

Ford finally stepped up and put the quality in that they were always capable of. Now I’m the proud owner of 2014 Explorer.

Ford ruined the T-bird in ‘58, then ruined the Mustang as well. It’s improved again, but Shelby did the right thing with the basic design, not Ford. (BTW, “Bullet” wouldn’t have kept up, and likely would have been the one flying into the gas station if driving a showroom STOCK Mustang.)

and just for fun: if you pay close attention to the chase scene in Bullet, you will notice that he only upshifts; he never downshifts regardless of situation. That also means that he had at least 8 forward gears…….

And you’re right about Carroll Shelby: without him, the Mustang would continue to be as well-thought-out and as maneuverable as a canoe with an outboard motor.

^With my ’65 Corvair Corsa 140 hp, I could run away and hide from Mustangs with no problem on Solo II courses. Also, in addition to better handling, it was the safest car built in the U.S. from ’65 ’til end of production. My sister in law proved the last point by getting hit by a gravel truck that had a green light when she ran a red. (Her typical driving style!)

My Aunt had one of them. After a nice little incident she refused to drive it every again.

She was driving along on the highway on a pretty wind day, going into the wind, with husband in passenger seat. All of a sudden Uncle remarks “Watch it you are going out of your lane!”. She replied I can’t control it! She was turning the wheel and nothing was happening. Uncle didn’t understand what was going on and just was getting upset. So she slowed down, and pulled over and told him to drive it!

He got in and started driving, sure enough just at about 70 MPH he turned the wheel and nothing happened.

Why? The car has the engine in the back and was aerodynamic, the front wheels were lifting off the road!
