It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

another real nice one. I love Marigold’s grin when she’s being fed and I love the ending.

And Sunday’s strip was really late.

No, but unicorns do have equine traits. And this strip is heartwarming and perfect.

@Night-Gaunt49
I just like to tell people that Princess is just a title to unicorns and what real maters is dancing. I don’t think any one gets the reference though.

This is almost as good as the unicorn musical, but couldn’t you find a better verse to rhyme with grace? The long face joke is ancient.

The unicorn sings on the Sabbath Day.
A song that’s bonnie, bright and gay!
This is for Dana Simpson
Thank you Dana for a wonderful story.

Yeah, but what about Sunday?

@Q4horse
That was on my mind too, but the song would be hard to top I still have it stuck in my head and consider it to be Marigold’s theme song.

‘Lands in a heap’
For reasons I don’t recall my sister’s mare’s colt
was out of the pasture and following me around.
Ice. Frozen six foot wide stream.
He looked like a four legged spider.
It looked painful.
He’d suddenly done the splits and his danglies
were THUMP suddenly on the ice.
I would have screamed.
He didn’t.
I was wearing good shoes, he wasn’t.
I slid him over to the bank, kinda did the splits
so that my boots were against his hooves and
inched him upright.
After a few inches he seemed to understand
what I was doing and after a few feet he panicked
a little when he was getting off of the ice.
Back on the creek bank he spent a few moments
staring at the ice, and I think that he was to young
to know the words I would have been saying had I
been twenty years older, and been him.
-
And suddenly I understood that obstacle course
for horses at the county fair.
It was a sheet of plastic that kinda sorta looked
like ice.
There was this one horse.
It saw the plastic fake ice.
Came to a stop, ignored the rider, and jumped over
it.
