It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

Yes, that is impressive. I wouldn’t recognize it if I saw it on a map!

@Destiny23
I would. It’s in Europe between France and the Netherlands.

AUGH! That’s one of those words that have been banned by the galaxy at large.

I thought Marigold could manage a bit more dramatic pose. They are usually depicted prancing or rearing. Belgium, being part of that European union, is negative space. The positive space is over here, with the unicorn in it.
Stella S said, 5 months ago
I’m not sure what the negative space and the Belgium connection is, but it doesn’t look like Marigold is impressed Phoebe can draw it from memory or imagination.

Belgium is the rudest word in the Universe, yet by a strange coincidence, also the name of a country on Earth. It is stated as "completely banned in all parts of the Galaxy, except in one part, where they don’t know what it means.

Ah, Belgium, man! Belgium!
How did we get from Phoebe’s art class to the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?

‘I can’t think of anything more derogatory than Belgians!’
Old Monty Python skit.
Where in the Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy does it mention Belgium … it’s been a while..

Gees Pheebs, you’re being too literal. That and you make me want waffles . I’m more surprised that Phoebe also drew Fort Knox, the Moon, Kentucky, and my kitchen.

It depends…if you mean the radio series, it’s in the second series, fit the tenth (I think). If you mean the books, it’s in the North American printing of book 3, Life, the Universe, and Everything.

I love that Pheobe’s parents are so different than the normal comic strip parent. They’re real, they’re creatives, they’re not stuck in the ’50s.
Jeffrey Hope said, 5 months ago
Well, that’s a creative take. If only we could see what Phoebe drew.

Belgium is a place where the unicorn isn’t.

Many a foreign army has marched through Belgium.

Belgium is made of up two ethno-language groups, the French Walloons and the Germanic Flemish since 1789. Some suggest that sooner or later it will split along language lines.
