It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

Arrgh. I did it again—for like the fifth time, I transposed two numbers in the filename when I uploaded this strip.
There’s a reason I do this instead of being, say, an accountant or a life coach.
My bad! Enjoy today’s somewhat tardy strip.

Feeling a bit guilty, Phoebe? Don’t be. If you’re not cheating, you’re usually not winning.

It’s OK Dana. No matter what, it’s always worth the wait. Honest. :)

Its ok My home page was offline AGAIN when I tried to read my comics.
Also never thought I would see a 9 year old feel bad about winning a contest. But honestly I don’t think Max would want her to throw the game for him.

Also:A Pyrrhic victory is a victory with such a devastating cost that it carries the implication that another such victory will ultimately lead to defeat

oops: last comment was at all of us not Dana, I backspaced and pasted a thing I googled and it just came out as still quoting her.

Cheating isn’t winning it is robbery. But Phoebe isn’t cheating but she doesn’t want to beat Max in this.

I only watched it three or four times, but did anyone ever wonder why college level questions were sometimes used in “are you smarter than a fifth grader”
.

All this hand holding put “Jolly Holiday with Mary” in my head. So what would you guys rather have? a Magical perfect unicorn or a magical perfect nanny?

So this is Phoebe’s teacher!
Tandembuzz said, 4 months ago
@kaykeyser: If you read the original Mary Poppins, you’ll opt for the unicorn any day; she was “perfect” and “magical” but nowhere near as warm and kind as Disney portrays her.
@Dana Simpson: Dyslexics of the world UNTIE!
