It all started when Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond and accidentally hit a unicorn in the face. Improbably, this led to Phoebe being granted one wish, and using it to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. But can a vain mythical beast and a nine-year-old daydreamer really forge a connection?

Phoebe should have known better than to ask.

Phoebe should have pointed out Monoceros (Μονόκερως).

I don’t know why she’s pointing with her hoof (uh, paw?) — she’s already pointing with her horn!

Its about time they took a moonlight ride. The hide of a unicorn reflects so well in the starlight that Marigold would not sully this vision of her beauty with those silly scraves and leg wraps.
I’m not surprised unicorn lore saw no reason to place many humans in the sky, considering how ruthlessly humans hunted and killed unicorns during the middle ages, using fair maidens as bait.

A unicorn named Moe? Somehow that doesn’t sound very unicornish. Does he do slapstick?

Marigold’s expression in panel 4 is priceless. And I burst out laughing at the “blobby pinkish cluster”!

@Stella S
It’s short for something long and elegant. I was going to actually think of something, but meh. I need those funny thoughts for the strip.
The Wolf In Your Midst said, 6 months ago
So in that last panel, is Marigold looking upwards or just rolling her eyes?
Oh, and Stella, Moe is part of the Triumvirate of Titillation, along with Laurence and “Curly” Joseph, of course.

“Aye”? So we were correct to guess Marigold speaks with an accent. Would it be Scottish, like in Brave or British like Alex Kingston?

I’m afraid she can’t help you on that one.

“Moe” works for me, made me laugh more than any other strip today.
Thanks for the grins, Dana! Love the art.

Ack! Dana has slipped into the dreaded “Meh” stage. Quick, get Marigold to lower the “SHIELD OF BORINGNESS” before we’re all sucked in! :)
