Citigroup to Pay $7 Billion in Mortgage Probe
Settlement Includes $4 Billion Civil Penalty, $2.5 Billion in ‘Consumer Relief’
    .
Mr. Holder said the bank sold mortgage-backed securities with widespread defects and described Citigroup’s conduct as “egregious.”
    .
“The bank’s activities contributed mightily to the financial crisis that devastated our economy in 2008,” Mr. Holder said. “Taken together, we believe the size and scope of this resolution goes beyond what could be considered the mere cost of doing business.”

I am amazed that Eric Holder’s defenders rarely if ever consider how bigoted and how lazy these charges of racism are.

And what sort of punishment would you have recommended? Say something along the lines of “put executives in prison” and you might just get my support.
    .
Or do you just see this as another example of “job-killing government getting in the way of business”?

If you think being participating providers for Medicare and Medicaid is “employment” from which we can “benefit”, you know less about the health care system than you think.

Absolutely right. You can’t put corporate “people” in prison, so you fine them. This has become status quo for this administration; no person is ever held responsible. Nice to get some money, but the message is that you can be as heinous as you want as long as you make enough money to pay the inevitable fine.

Until we make real humans responsible for melting down our economy, our economy will not recover. There is no disincentive to criminal behavior at this point, and I would say this regardless of Mr. Holder’s racial or ethnic background.

“how come the bush administration put people in jail over enron "

    Huh?

“Kenny Boy” Lay didn’t get prosecuted until he was almost dead.

Enron was manipulating energy availability up and down the west coast. Governor Grey Davis got fed up with rolling brownouts and asked Mr. Bush to do something. He told Mr. Davis to deal with it. Since no one could deal with it other than DOJ or Enron itself, it festered, and this is why Mr. Davis lost to Mr. Schwarzenneger, and there was no relief until Enron went belly-up.

But your history may be different…..

Critics see why Holder (and Obama, et al) scream “Racist” at anyone that expresses contrary opinions to their 24/7 animus…in this article, the writer says “Holder views the world through a racial prism that distorts his judgment.” Amen. (excellent article, with evidence that Holder has politicized the DOJ to fit his racial bias)

The Enron scandal was also allowed to occur under the watch of the Clinton administration. Just another case of Bush having to clean up Clinton’s mess.

The reason California was having rolling blackouts was because they shutdown the 550 megawatt Rancho Seco nuclear plant in 1989 for no reason other than appeasing environmentalists. Then they doubled down by not allowing any other power plants of any kind to be built in the State.
