Why does it seem that some people believe that Mr. Obama is the first and only president to tell an untruth? Was it really okay until 2008?

With a education system that is more concerned with indoctrination then educations, President Obama could pull a Martin Sheen in the Dead Zone and still be loved.

Oh, WELL then….I guess it’s OK then! Ok, everybody, it’s a wrap. Obama’s allowed to lie because OTHER presidents have done it. Leave the guy alone to be a liar in good conscience! Nothing to see here, folks.

Okay, I deserved that. Lying is never the right thing to do. Not lying is even one of the Big Ten.. But my point was that many posters seem to believe that no one ever lied to them pre-2008. Based on their shock and outrage, it’s like it’s a new thing to them. And let’s not limit this to the presidency.

We can accept where we are and try to work to get ahead, or we can call names and stop trying. It’s our choice.

The problem with the media everything is to the left then the American People, not just in homosexuality, or abortion but energy policy, health care, social services and a whole host of issues.

I respect you for owning up to that. I do not approve of lying either. I get sick of finger pointing and saying, “Well, YOUR guy did…”
What seems to get under the skin of so many Republicans though is that when anyone in the GOP lie or get caught in a scandal they’re screaming for their heads and demand resignations. (Tom Delay, anyone?) But when someone in the left does it, all wagons are circled around that person and any and all excuses are made to excuse the behavior.
We’ve become SO polarized that we CAN’T work together anymore! R’s do some things better than D’s and some things not as well, and vise-versa. I don’t see WHY we can’t say, “Well, you guys are good on this such and such and we’re good at this such and such. Let’s do what we’re best at and let the other side of the aisle do what they’re best at”. But instead both sides are dug in and each side thinks THEY’RE the only best hope for each and every situation. We had better start working together! Otherwise, brother, we’re done as a Nation if it doesn’t stop!

So Glen you are saying we need to go for about 8 years with no elected officials?

Truly. I agree with all that you have said. I will take it one step further: although politics has always been a dirty business, it seems to me that it has gotten dirtier in the last few decades. No longer do we get candidates who tell us their ideas. We only get candidates who tell us why the other guy will ruin life as we know it, and the only way to avoid Armageddon is to send this guy money. It works. And it helps to fuel the us-vs.-them mentality that makes us forget that we are friends, neighbors, co-workers, and all citizens of the UNITED states of America.

This is being tacitly encouraged by the powers that be, in hopes that if we fight among ourselves, we’ll be less capable of following their idiocies. That seems to be working, too. This bodes poorly for our future, and is truly frightening. I share your concern, but I am heartened to see that liberals as well as conservatives can see the need to find common ground to move forward, as opposed to a battleground where someone (the US) will have to lose. Let’s hope this line of thinking becomes more commonplace, because I agree that the society will end poorly and suddenly if we continue to act like spoiled children.

Carville as you recall was the one who got a total pass from the press after making violent threats against a prosecutor on live TV, he doesn’t care how weak his lies are.

We need to also stop voting down along party lines and vote INSTEAD on the best qualified for the job required of the certain office. Quit being loyal to just R or D JUST because they ARE R or D. We need to just come together and each of us work on our best abilities and know HOW to say we don’t KNOW certain things and to allow the other people to handle it if they do. Best person for the job. NO more firsts, JUST because it’s a “first” black, woman, dog, martian, etc. Get the job done! Who cares what you are, just get it done AND listen to your constituents. Term limits wouldn’t hurt either. Politics was never meant to be a career.
