Hard to say, isn’t it. This whole government is a trainwreck, and it’s hard to see any practical way to clean it up. I don’t see any way out of the sewage, really, because as long as the GOP categorically refuses to cooperate in the smallest way with the Dems, we’re stuck.

We’re damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t. I guess we wait and see …

“Obama is not the Liberal he sold himself as in 2008.”
    .
He didn’t sell himself as a liberal. He just didn’t correct anyone who said he was one. I remember having these arguments (and can direct you to them if you don’t believe me) with people who thought they were liberals or progressives. They kept saying that Obama was to the left of center and I kept telling he was NOT!
    .
There are things I do admire about President Obama. His politics aren’t most of them. But in the bar fight that is the American discussion, I’m on his side versus them on the other side.
    .
What is killing the right is that Obama managed to keep the peace with the Beast even after the Neo Cons starved it.

No Republican Attorney General could get away with what Clinton’s Janet Reno got away with….murder of members of a religious sect….and Obama’s Eric Holder whose Dept. of Injustice waged war by the IRS blocking conservatives needing taxexemptions legalized by USSC on United Citizens ruling, until and even after, to this day, the Nov.6 2012 Election.
    -
A GOP AG would never be told to investigate himself! And a bipartisan Congress ought never to allow Holder to investigate Holder!
    -
Historians will say this Obama administration is the most Scoff-Law on record from Prez George Washington todate.

Meese, Ashcroft, Thomas (SCOTUS), Gonzales, I can think of many a lot worse, and that doesn’t begin to touch all the U.S. Attorneys and Solicitors appointed by “conservatives”, who’ve been attacking our rights for decades. To be fair, DOJ has been a “brown noser paradise” for decades, with appointments from BOTH parties of total incompetents.

    @Hawthorne

It amazes me how Libs will agree things are a shambles, but it’s not their parties fault. It’s all the Republicans. Granted the Republicans are just as bad about blaming the Libs. The truth is both parties are to blame. Both sides have some fault and arguing over who has the largest share is a waste of time we don’t have. But most of the pundits who post here are so addicted to their red or blue Kool Aid that they don’t mind the poison. Oh well. It was a great country while it lasted.

Well spoken. The fact that you think that their guy was worse does not make your guy any better. Doing a poor job is not the exclusive province of any one party, and it appears both parties are working overtime to see who can do the worst to the American public. A race to the bottom is a fool’s errand.

If we voters would put as much effort into doing homework and voting responsibly as we do into calling each other names, we might be able to save this society in spite of the political parties. That’s a darned big “if”, though….

“…It’s [The Senate] run by Democrats.”
    .
You’ve maybe never quite understood the problem of the filibuster? It takes 60 votes to “run” the Senate. It takes 41 votes to assure that the Senate will not run.

    Wrong again Hubert!
    .
The Left had legitimate concerns about Bork and they gave him a hearing and Bork was voted down.
    .
What’s more, here’s what Bork himself said about it, “There should be a full debate and a final Senate decision. In deciding on this course, I harbor no illusions. But a crucial principle is at stake. That principle is the way we select the men and women who guard the liberties of all the American people. That should not be done through public campaigns of distortion. If I withdraw now, that campaign would be seen as a success, and it would be mounted against future nominees. For the sake of the Federal judiciary and the American people, that must not happen. The deliberative process must be restored.” ( Wiki Bork Nomination The deliberative process must be restored. (
    .
Is the “Deliberative Process” in full function today, onguard? Hint: the answer is NO!
    .
That is how it is “any different.” That is why people from the center right to the center to the center left to the left look at people of the right as enemies of the nation and it’s progress.
    .
We have a good reason to. You are to the right of those people who used to be your extreme right, and you can’t seem to visualize your position.
    .
The people that lead you want the American Experiment to fail. They want to replace our cherished democracy with a corporate oligarchy where all “laws” are laws that favor corporate interests (the existing ones, not the ones that will be trying to replace the corrupted ones) It is a very clear and obvious disaster in the works. And you are working for them.

What happens today has nothing to do with
Borked". What happens today is that there is no discussion of their merits and lacking thereof whatsoever..
    .
Does that make you happy? It sure doesn’t make me happy. But I think it does make you happy because it is “your side” doing the, what you wrongly call, “Borking.”
