BTW, the only gun-related legislation Obama has passed, allowed people to openly carry loaded weapons in our National Parks, where regulations formerly restricted firearms to only empty and cased weapons allowed within the boundaries.
To the NRA, and “Doctor” Coburn, that was the only “gimme” in that regard.
McCoy seems to be very much a one trick pony lately with most of his cartoons being ad hominem attacks on Obama. He can be an enormously clever and cutting cartoonist on a wide variety of issues so I tend to assume he does it for his Republican paymasters.
First, I’m disappointed that Glenn sees Newtown as a One news Cycle event. I’m surprised that his follow up isn’t in re: gun Control. . I guess this was the cartoon he was going to sell before Friday happened. . Second. If you take money out of my wallet and you give it to ME, i’m no worse for the wear. . When you take money out of my wallet and you use it to give tax breaks to billionaires. I am worse off. . At least in this cartoon Glenn isn’t regurgitating the old “redistribution of the wealth” and Class warfare codswallop that usually passes for punditry.
Oh, and given the anachronistic imagery and the evolution of Glenn’s drawing style. I get the feeling that the last one was from Columbine, or one of the myriad other school shooting between then and now.
You’re absolutely right. Obama might have fooled the voters in ‘08 and ’12, but, as you so astutely pointed out, now they’ve wised up and not one will vote for Obama in ’16.
It’s axiomatic that there ain’t any good right-wing cartoonists (seeing as how they don’t really “do” wit, originality, or satire) and the few out there seem to work with a sledgehammer instead of a rapier. Oh, Glenn McCoy’s the worst of a pretty feeble lot. I guess that can happen to you when all your “inspiration” evidently comes from watching Faux Snooze 24/7.
Glenn McCoy has been long recognized by his peers as a superior cartoonist. Besides his editorial cartoons, he also creates the daily comic strips The Duplex and The Flying McCoys.
