    Their best player must be big man on Wampus.

    In panel three, I can’t find the plate, either!! Hmm, how far back is that catcher?

    The Leesville Wampus Cats are in southwest Louisiana. Seriously

    In P1 it looks like Leesville uses those same little chunks of gravel in the infield dirt that schools used in my high school conference.

    I take it you’ve never watched an actual baseball game. The catcher is at least three feet behind the plate (my estimation, I don’t know the exact distance), else he’d get beaned by a swung bat a lot. So, it’s no big deal if you don’t see the plate in P3, don’t try to make it one.

    Gil: “Bobby, settle down and throw strikes, or those Cats are gonna Wampus!”

    :O)

    P3 — the umpire looks like he’s wearing a mask from the 1960s, plus the thinnest West Vest I’ve ever seen

    @Pat Murray

    He just left his other job at highway litter removal. That’s his hi-vis safety vest. He should be well out of the way of those outside pitches.

    Everyone knows the Wampus Cats are from Itasca, not Leesville.

    Reminiscent of Ryne Duren. Heavy, moving fastball which would punish the catcher’s mitt hand and wrist. If only he had full command of his heater……….
