    Isn’t this the only comic strip (and I’m not just talking today’s episode) that L’il Abner & Fearless Fosdick actually appeared together?

    I think that somewhere Al Capp & George McManus are feeling really honored.

    Keep slim at the retired toon house, too.

    Skipped Memorial Day again this year. the LAST time that Memorial Day was memorialized in a Gasoline Alley strip was 2007. Makes you wonder what is “afoot.”

    No Slim, don’t take him home…I hope JanBic is right. Let’s just keep this storyline going on and on—it is so fun!

    Oh, no. A comic strip that doesn’t acknowledge Memorial Day. The terrorists have won!

    @JanBic

    Seconded — let Slim go home alone (if he can find his way there).

    If we must bid farewell to the retired comics then let’s send Walt home and retire Slim. Send his mother and her cousin to keep him company.

    And, what is to say that the terrorists do, at times, represent “good”.
    And who is to know, what good and bad are….
    Life is NOT simple, as conservatives believe…
    Nevertheless, those who have given their lives MUST be honored…
    They are the heros…..the ones to admire and respect.

    What would really have been appropriate would be to have Willy and Joe (two weary cartoon soldiers from the WW2 era) make an appearance today. Walt, being a veteran himself, could have opted to stay with his old veteran buddies. I’m waiting for his wife Phyllis to make an appearance.

    And Beatle Bailey could have been a part of the Memorial Day celebration as well. Today I’m more than a bit disapointed in Jim.
