It looks like the latency period is a thing of the past. And good riddance to it! Even at Boog’s age, the world needs more lovers than fighters.

Is there a new artist? The drawings appear to be in a different style.

Boog’s eyes are rather creepy if you ask me. Let us hope Joel and Rufus return soon!

Was Charlotte in a previous story? And, by the way, she looks a great deal like a young Hoogie.

@tsull2121: Boog is Rover’s son, hence the resemblance. Rufus still has Kitty, along with a stray cat that took a shine to her and a bunch of their kittens.

@tsull2121
Boog is the son of Rover and his wife Hoogy.
Rufus’ white kitten grew up and became a mama herself.
On this strip, people really age.
They age, but they never die (well, with the exception of Walt’s wife Phyllis).

Jim Scancarelli is the fourth cartoonist to do the strip. He has been drawing it since 1986. The original artist, Frank King drew it up until 1959.
