It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

this is probably the stupidest idea yet. and this from an extremely talented artist who NEVER seems to repeat a gag. this idea is neither amusing nor interesting. whoever talked mr. davis into this one ought to be canned.

I’m pretty sure Davis doesn’t even right all his strips any more and I’m also pretty confident that he doesn’t all of draw them either. Not as if when he did they were ever that funny.
This idea is hilarious. :D

@Rasslebear
Mr. Davis has been creating boring strips for awhile.

They were funny w/Garfield in them, hence the name of the comic strip. Not sure why reprinting or redrawing them again without Garfield is so funny. and really? it’s “inspired” by creator Jim Davis, it IS Jim Davis’ work, just redone. Lame.

I think he still writes them, but doesn’t draw them.

The original of this strip is fairly old. I’m pretty sure I have it in a book. The GMG version is not done by Mr. Davis.

Agreed. Garfield stopped being really funny years ago…An’ let’s face it – Jon was never funny, except as the foil of our favorite feline.
If the intent of GMG is to inject new life into a very tired old strip – well, here’s a
NEWSFLASH! – It ain’t workin’ !
Sometimes it’s best to just walk away when you’re on top – it’s far classier than going this route when you’ve hit bottom…

Well changing it up a little is still kinda funny, and I think that some of these GMG strips are pretty good. For instance the one where Jon says: “Life is strange and mysterious” and then his pant leg rises for no reason. It’s just a quirky and weird form of humor that I think is rather funny. sometimes.
