It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

Garfield Minus Garfield is just too lame for words…that goes for Jon, too….

The original strip would have worked better if Garfield hadn’t said anything.

What is the point of Garfield minus Garfield? Did some lame brain at some drunken party think it would be funny? Garfield minus Garfield is a total waste of time, and I find it’s very existence extremely irritating.

The idea behind the strip is two-fold:
[]
1. For some strips, the humor is such that Garfield is not actually needed in order to tell the joke.
[]
2. For other strips, removing Garfield from the strip causes the entire perspective to change. For example, in the above strip, Jon is reimagined as someone whose life is dull; this is in keeping with previous strips, where it is implied that loneliness and boredom are rendering him neurotic.

If you have to explain the joke, it often becomes unfunny. :)

Hey, a lot of people are missing something!!!!!
No one gets by in this life without losing, such as mail, needles, pens, and scissors. Come on, after turning past 50
everyone has lost something. Do not feel bad, Jon!!!
