It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

This works just as well if not better without garfield.
The cat points out the source of pain giving you a satisfing resolution, it all become logical. With garfield there this strip could happen to anyone Jon shows no strange feelings.
Without Garfield this strip is shown in a whole different light. I ends with a cliff-hanger. It leaves you asking questions and thinking about it. There is no logical explanation for Jons behaviour, this can leave us a little confused. Without Garfield and no logical explanation Jon shows strange behaviour that not many other people could experience. The first thoughts that enter are minds isn’t he split hot coffee like the below strip but is he mad or what is going on. It also works very well because Jons face is portrayed as mad or crazy.
Personally I prefer the strip without Garfield it leaves us thinking about it.

I love this strip. Sure, I’ll get tired of it some day, but for the time being, I love focusing on Jon. He is certainly quite the unfortunate
