I once had a friend who managed to turn “Sgt Pepper” into a polka tune. Note the “had” in that sentence. But he almost succeeded in making John Lennon rise from his grave.

Her favorite is the beer barrel polka by Michael Jackson. My favorite is the chocolate soda polka, AKA chai chai polka.

Just say Ievan Polkka if someone asks, now matter what. You probably do heard it by Loituma (or Korpiklaani).

Loved John Candy in Home Alone, where he rattles off some of his band’s “hits” … and the Christmas songs in the truck going home, all with a polka beat … priceless!

A great polka I remember as a child living across the street from the Polish-American Association clubhouse is “I Don’t Want Her, You Can Have Her, She’s Too Fat for Me”. But I don’t know the name of my favorite because it had no words, just an amazing clarinet part.

“2001 Polka” by Martin Mull. The opening theme of “Also Sprach Zarathustra” set to a polka beat. Classic.

Obviously, no one here (but Jon and I) have Polish relatives.

Try the Clarinet Polka. Polka music is okay for 4-5 songs. After that it all just sounds the same.
