If we look back at the December 13, 1979 strip, we see a similar situation to this strip. In that strip, Jon sees Garfield playing piano and celebrates. In this one, we see that Jon thinks his piano is haunted. Many muse on the idea of Garfield Minus Garfield, but between these two strips, we see what that actually entails. Instead of a happy and celebratory Jon, we see a paranoid, frightened husk of a man. Thank you, Garfield, for bringing joy to the life of your owner.
