My friend forced me to make a Dungeons and Dragons Online account and I named my character “Brentardo Fancypants.”

    True story.

And why should we believe this recantation, Mr. Erasmus? You do realize that the auspicious return of Frog Applause bears with it certain…obligations?

    Speaking of Frog Blog:

Ms. T has yet to make an announcement on Frog Blog that she is indeed “back in business.”

In fact this comic is listed above the disclaimer, I’m still not back in business.

So she is saying in effect, “Fat chance all you fancy pants Communists.”

The “Daily Mail War Map” itself is here:

    http://tinyurl.com/d5m4qwn

The information and images printed on the map make it appear to have been printed soon after the war began. The numbers of airships and naval vessels are for the pre-war period; there’s a list of “War Funds Available,” and down in a corner there’s a list of neutral nations. Italy declared its neutrality on 1 August 1914, and on 6 August Parliament voted to fund the war with one hundred million pounds, so if the Daily Mail was reasonably quick about updating its facts, this map was available right at the start of the war.

    re FB DEPENDABLE

It’s an old matchbook cover, apparently a generic one that could be used for anything boating related, as here:

‘Dependable’ was sometimes used by Champion spark plugs as seen here. My guess is that Champion used it in reference to plugs used by the outboard motor on the boat. Notice that the top of the FB pic has been cropped. Maybe the logo was there.

I must admit, though, that the guy looks kind of creepy and might be taking the young lady to his secluded Cabin In The Woods. (cue ominous music)
