Do you think students are learning more and getting better prepared for their future by paying more?

The only ones who dont get free college are Americans…But they dont need it, because all Americans are rich, so raise the tuition…..That’s why my son had to work his way through…We must be the one family of Americans that are not rich…

Exactly what’s happening with Uni fees and the current Australian Federal Government.

We wouldn’t want well-educated people who are encouraged to think for themselves, now, would we ?

University is NOT free here in England. Universities can charge up to a maximum of £9,000 tuition per year (about $15,000 US)

And after they bleed you for the schooling they’ll forever have their hand out to you as alumni for contributions. DaSharkie’s son is well justified if he tells them to “go stick it under a rock” when the soliciting letters come. My Dad was not able to finish at Columbia due to lack of money. Got about half way through on a four year program. I remember years later seeing envelopes with the uni’s letterhead.

DaSharkie: I worked my way through college too – in the 1950s. You can’t do that today.

Sorry about the goof on my original respond to your comment re Jo Clear’s whose son you made mention of. Dad would type peoples papers for what it is I forgot …, but important papers for submission for some extra income. Forgot what else he did to earn money. His parents were dirt poor Irish emigres and so, no help there.

Yep, he always did know the value of money, better than I did…I got him a credit card in case he needed to buy anything while he’s in coll. and he never used it…He learned to pay his own way when he was in Hi. Sch. with a part time job…He’s a wonder for sure…

The one’s I was talking about who get everything free coll., are the people who either sneak over the border, or are brought here…I of course was joking about Americans being rich, that is what other countries think, so they can come here and take over, and take adv….

    You da man!
You must be my re-incarnated Dad. Sounds like the same words he would use. Always pulled his weight and despite a sometimes very raw nature, never left his family in the lurch.
