    Yeah, but what does it feel like after you ate the 40 year old MREs?
    Other point, were MREs around during Vietnam?

    We had “C’s” (1967-1968) but there were “LRRP’s”, which were freeze dried meals. The army grunts were not worthy of them, many of our “C’s” were left over from WW II and had been in “cold storage”.

    C-rations were still around in the early 80s. MREs came out in the mid-80’s – pretty nasty too.

    So we, in the Forest Service, were not the only ones to be fed WWII rats. I thought the USFS had the entire supply: “Don’t eat swollen or rusty cans.” A few people got sick and the last I saw of them was about 1975.
