Odd comment from John unless he means that the sheets for a water bed are usually too small for the water bed (which is not my experience with water beds and sheets). I guess we are headed into some sequence where Elly has put on a bathing suit that used to fit her and is now too small for her. I hope it won’t be too much like those jokes in Cathy, or I may have to say, “AACK!!”

    Lynn’s Notes:

Waterbeds were all the rage in the ’80s, so we bought one. It was a miserable thing. The heater was defective, so the mattress was often clammy and cold. Putting the sheets on took practice. We had to pull up the edge of the mattress, then work a band of elastic under this blubbery, rolling water-filled sack while skinning our knuckles on the frame. It occurred to me that it was kind of like dressing something warm, large, and flabby!

Oh my Lynn’s comments bring back the memories. We had a waterbed in the mid 80’s too. Like Lynn, our heater was defective…yikes it was cold most of the time. And it was a war putting on the sheets. This is hilarious….though I’m thinking John is in big trouble. LOL

I think the statistics were at one time fully 35% of all beds sold were waterbeds. Now you really have to works to find one—or sheets.

we had a water bed in the 80’s also in fact we had that darn thing well into the 90’s. Our heater worked just fine and we only sprung a leak twice but were easily fixed. I actually kind of miss that bed, was always warm on a cold winter night and way cheaper than the last mattress we bought, Tempur Pedic, cost a small fortune and is NOT all that comfortable.

Waterbed + apartment + 2 cats = recipe for disaster (not from me, but a friend’s experience)
