I fought a guy once who claimed to have boxed professionally, he broke his fist on my face and his nose on my fist

He was pretty drunk when he attacked me, rather not know how things would have turned out if he had been sober

    Minor point, though:
Boxing is actually more dangerous with gloves. In bare-knuckle boxing, you can’t really punch someone in the face or head much, because the odds are your fingers will break before their face does in any significant way. As a result, they usually just beat each others’ chests and arms, resulting in a grand total of about two deaths in a hundred years of recorded bare-knuckle boxing. Gloves protect the hands and allow harder hits in addition to face/head contact, and generally contributes to five deaths per year in the US.
So actually, the bare-knuckle boxer is handicapping himself and endangering his own life.
