Personally – as an Administrative Professional myself – I’ve never been offended by the title of Secretary.
An ‘old school’ secretary knows more about the bosses schedule than the boss, we are the ones who remind the boss of the various habits/preferences of office visitors (and remind the boss of those item), we’re considered the ‘expert’ in all office machinery (even items that were just unpacked), we act as advisers and confidants for many in the office.
In short – the old school secretary is often the ‘rock’ that the boss comes to lean on – we help keep the office on track and on schedule. No, I will never be offended to be ‘just’ a secretary. :)
