We are in Crescent City, CA in a KOA. Nice place and our site is right next to a group tent site. Should be interesting when they get going tonight….
Yesterday we tried ATVing in the dunes. What a disaster! I guess we just aren’t that adventurous. Expensive lesson, though. So we drove on up the coast to Newport to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. That was a great place to visit. I had been up there once before when Keiko (the Free Willy orca) was up there being rehabilitated for being released into the ocean. They have broken up his old habitat into several smaller ones, including a tidal area, offshore and deep ocean with tunnels to walk through and a glass floor so you can see the marine life all around you. I was very please to see how they had used the space. The children loved it!
Today we stopped at the West Coast Wild Animal Park. It is sort of half petting zoo and half habitats for the more sensitive or dangerous animals. We enjoyed seeing some animals close up that we hadn’t encountered before, including a bear!
It was raining when we left this morning, but is much nicer here. The sun is shining, but the air is cool enough to leave the AC turned off. We’ve got the windows all opened up and I am enjoying the fresh air surrounded by redwood trees.
G’day Vagabonds.
