Good Morning…
MOVIES: The Oscar’s will be presented 2 weeks from tonight. Any predictions as to best picture? Nominees are Argo, Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, & Zero Dark Thirty. Amour, Beasts, Pi, Lincoln & Silver Linings also have a “Best Director” nomination – the last pic to win “Best Pic” without a director nomination was 1989’s Driving Miss Daisy. However, Ben Affleck’s Argo has been winning other awards left and right…so is there a chance for another exception?

Morning, Village.
Strangely enough, I don’t remember watching any movies this year. Let’s see. I think the last one I saw was Tin Tin. Was that this year or last year?

In looking back on “Best Picture” Oscars over the years (see above link to list), the 60s, 70s & 80s gave us classics such as West Side Story, Lawrence of Arabia, My Fair Lady, In the Heat of the Night, Midnight Cowboy, The Godfather, The Sting, Rocky, Annie Hall, Gandhi, Out of Africa, Rain Man, Driving Miss Daisy, etc. I am wondering which of the more recent Oscar winners (90s, 00s, 10s) will stand the test of time…?

In checking with IMDB.com, Tintin was a 2011 movie and received the Academy Award nomination for for best original score (Feb. 2012 Oscars). :-)
I haven’t seen that film…did you like it?

Good Morning, Everyone,
Good to hear that your storm is over, NEK gang. Thanks for your descriptions. That wind must have really added to the mess!
We have not seen any of the current Oscar nominations. Of them all, I am waiting for Lincoln to come out on DVD.
We got some snow!!! Only about 4 or 5 inches at our house, but the ski resort 13 miles west of us got 13 inches in the last 24 hours. Woo Hoo! It’s been over a month since the last snowfall.

Yes, I did like Tintin. It was animated with life-like characters and very enjoyable.
