Me, too. It’s one thing mentioning that there is a book out, it’s another to have a whole daily strip dedicated to two dudes talking about having a book out.

Nice comments. Way to focus on the negative instead of the positive.

During my service daze, field chow was called C-Rats: see, they’re made from rats!

Ah MREs. Meals Rejected by Ethiopians. The peanut butter was a sure cure for diarrhea, and the chocolate cookies would cure constipation. I remember them and their predecessor, K-Rats. I’ve even tried C-Rats, but I wouldn’t recommend them. I still carry a P38 on my dog tags. Best can opener around. 23 year Air Force Vet.

Bloodied but unbowed…amongst jaunts to Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Australia, we were still lucky(?) enough to be back in Cebu to endure the 7.2 Bohol quake and the recent typhoon (more blow on the way I hear).

Thank you for your service, friend.
I still got a P38 on my dog tags, too.
Never know when someone will break out a pack of ’C’s’ .
Remember the little 4 pack of cigs that used to be in there?

    Thank you for your service.
I actually liked C-rats, but then I never was too particular when it came to food…

As someone who’s had MREs in more recent history, some of them are actually pretty good!
Wouldn’t touch the corned beef hash with someone else’s ten-foot touching device, though.

It wouldn’t be the military if you couldn’t trash talk the food, but actually it’s very good nowadays. Even MRE’s aren’t bad. The secret to the Ham Omelet is not to look at it.

Green Eggs and Ham, Green Eggs and Ham
I do not like them Uncle Sam
I would not eat them in a tank
Or on a camel smelling rank
I would not eat them in a Bradley
They would make me vomit badly……

Yes, the MRE’s are a treat compared to the old c-rats (that’s “combat rations” for you lucky ones). And the amazing P-38, so much more than just a can opener! I’ve effected engine repair with them!

More important than the cigs, the little pack of TP was like money!
