Don’t know why this is objectionable or a surprise to the liberal left. Prior to taking office Obama SAID that he believes in a police force at least as well armed and trained as the military. Of course this well armed police force was to be used against the military troops returning home who the Obama administration labeled as “potential terrorists”. More than a bit of irony here that his ‘militarized police force is being used against Obama’s and Holder’s homeys.

Hmm, stupid first class gastric torrent, a variant of B.S.?? Somebody needs to look into the “Patriot Act”, its origins, and who put it together to ram down our throats in that national bowel movement of fear, post 9/11.

There has always been a trickle of military equipment into the police forces since the 1960s when precursors to SWAT teams were created by Philadelphia and Los Angeles to counter race riots, terror groups (SLA), union thugery (Ceasar Chavez) etc. This was expanded a bit 1997 in the wake of the North Hollywood shootout. 9/11 again saw a small surge in the militarization of police but this was less of a matter of additional equipment than a rethinking and planning of response to terrorist attacks. I was not until about 2010 that a huge surge of military equipment, MRAPs, helicopters, grenade launchers machine guns etc. amounting to over $5 billion flooded into the local police forces. The means allowing the formal transfer of excess military weapons to local police agencies was established under the Clinton administration under the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 1997.
