I had both a dog and a cat once, and neither one ate the other’s food.

My cats eat in the bathtub so the dog can’t get to the food.

My wiener dogs would eat anything I give them. They are disposals!
I bet yours doesn’t like cold weather! In Indiana it is so cold!

Tell that one to our Smudge-cat. She’ll laugh her tail off and tell you dog food is perfectly good. And the dingo-dog we had could have been Andrew Zimmerman’s co-host for “Bizarre Foods”.

When I was a dumb young idiot, there was a neighborhood dog that would snap up anything you threw her. I tossed her a small pebble and down it went!

I agree to that, and I had the vet bills to prove it!

Dogs will eat anything, including cat poop. Cats are selective with food, just as they are with human friends.

Around 30 years ago the family had a big, and I mean truly record size, German Shepherd. He got along quite well with the farm cats. When they played together it looked like they were trying to kill each other until you saw them pile together under a shade tree to rest.
He was very protective of his food bowl and never allowed any other animals near his kibble. Except for one tiny kitten he adapted. This 150# dog would sit sphinx style holding his food bowl and eating his kibbles while the little 2# kitten sat between his paws and gnawed on one kibble. He would even allow this one kitten to eat off of his table-scrap feedings, otherwise totally unheard of.
I wish I still had pictures of the two of them together.

I had both a dog and a cat once; and they frequently ate each other’s food. Mom called the vet and asked if that was a problem. “Do you see any problems?” he asked. “Like what?” Mom replied. “Are they getting sick, listless, anything out of the ordinary?” “No,” said Mom. “Then don’t worry about it,” the vet replied, “It’s not doing anything to them.”

Our cats eat “up” – the dog got WAY too “plump” eating their food. DH has a conniption fit about Sam eating “up”, but I just tell him (DH, that is, not Sam) that when HE feeds Sam, he can feed him where he pleases, but when I feed Sam I’ll feed him where he’s been eating for the past 12 years – until I broke my leg last year DH hadn’t fed anybody anything. My vet has told up we have to keep Princess on a diet, and my daughter keeps calling her a “SAUSAGE” (of all things) instead of a well-loved pup!
