Was GT spoofing “Jesus Christ Superstar”?
@TheWildSowI remember a few of us boys getting a dirty look from our 5th grade teacher when we sang that one. Also, “Jingle bells, shotgun shells…”
in montreal, our version was the even more racy:‘jingle bells, santa smells’kindergarten was très cosmopolitan..
I had heard it as “it was loaded and exploded, that’s how we traveled so far”.
Great old strips, but I think I’m getting whiplash from the sudden changes.
Once he became CEO of Reindeer Corp, he got millions in pay, bonuses and stock options. Look it up.
Maybe it is just me, but it seems that these old strips had more bite to them than the newer ones. Guess like all of us, GT mellowed as he grew older. We are about the same age.
The reason I asked the question, in 1973 “Jesus Christ Superstar” opened on Broadway. Many people considered it sacrilege.
I think he is probably referring to JC Superstar, it was extremely big back then.
