    What surprises me is that Joy would even CONSIDER baking something from scratch! Mornin’ all. Happy October.

    She will buy one from the store (day old), show the recipe to everyone and tell them she made it herself.

    For the Pennys, it’s “Measure once, cut constantly.”
    I wanted to be a baker after a friend to me that her Italian M-I-L told her to knead the dough until it felt like a woman’s breast.

    Why, 2old…. don’t you know she made a cake from scratch just last week?

    She put two cans of Betty Crocker fudge frosting on a Sara Lee pound cake….
    she even thawed the cake first, and sliced it in half sideways so she could put more frosting between the layers.

    It was a lot of work…. but she wanted to make something really special for Burl.

    After all, that morning, he’d taken the fake roses out of his sock drawer where he hides them, and given them to her again.

    They have such a nice note attached…. “To my special girl”.
    And now that it’s getting faded, you can hardly see where he crossed out “Love, Phil” and wrote “From Burl.”

    Looks like the only TV they miss all day is the news and weather.

    I can’t criticize anyone else’s TV consumption because mine are on most of my waking hours (even though I may not be watching).

    I only watch the morning news live (TiVo season passes and suggestions for the rest) but that assures there are always plenty of selections available. Added to “Chopped” with “Cutthroat Kitchen” but “Food Truck Race” is almost over (and this season was not their best); TMZ and Wendy Williams keep me caught up on celebrity gossip

    Wow, Dazz…….I must congratulate you and all of those here before me. I spent much of yesterday making merry at several of the parties in honour of Dazz’s 45th birthday. Bit too many Mojito’s. And Dazz; you looked like you were having a great time with the Chippendale troupe that showed up!

    DAZZ…How abut you try out that recipe and let us know how it turns out….? ? ?

    @DAZZ

    I wasn’t meaning to be critical, more an implied observation that the Pennys watch enough TV AND they seem to have an opinion on everything. It seems that adding a little news and weather to their watch list might make sense, so I am thinking they should go ahead and add 8 to 10AM and 4 to 7PM. I really don’t know why they shut it off at all. I suppose Burl doesn’t want any facts to impact his opinions, and Joy only agrees with Burl’s opinion, she has none.
