Don’t open those windows too wide, it might blow some of the stink out!

Rain or shine, summer or winter, early or late, the Pennys are going to be doing two things; eating and resting up from eating. (In front of the TV.)
I think Patty followed one of them home one day. There’s no way they engaged in anything strenuous like, well….

Why IS Patty cooped up at their house?

If I were her and had a home to go to elsewhere….
    even a little dorm room…
    - zoom!
    I’d be outta there.

Meanwhile, yeah…. the fresh mall air would do you good.
Well, compared to what’s trapped in Mom and Dad’s house.

    That reminds me…
I recently realised I’d always read “What smells?” on that antimacassar
    (just for you, Mikie…. LOL)
as meaning “What is making that awful smell?”

But it’s possible that some of us have been reading it as WHAT smells?"
    like… “Well I don’t smell anything!”

    So…. which does it mean?

In either case…. hope somebody finds that little pine tree air freshener.

Well it’s NOT the smell of home baked cookies or cakes. We all know Joy doesn’t cook unless it’s take out of the wrapper then heat in the nuker. Other than that it’s go out to the restaurant so they can take home rolls that are thrown away. They always ask for extra ones so they can do that you know.

My honey’s deep freezer got unplugged without him realizing it until it was too late, I imagine the Penny’s home smells like that all the time.

The scent of moth balls over powers most smells except the ones Burl emits

Only really bad smell I’ve had to deal with were the drain back-ups that could happen in the basement (as our community had storm lines tied into sanitary lines – probably residual from earlier less populous times). I had a loose-fitting pair of high rubber boots that I’d wear for that as I naturally did any clean-up myself (my husband gagged at the sewer smell or the sight of blood, so never helped with dirty jobs). I regularly hooked up a garden hose to the laundry tub and hosed down the floor (as soon as the foot of water receded) then mopped down with Pinesol and a few more rinses. I later had a backflow valve installed, but then I had to warn the family not to use excessive water on days with heavy rain because the 4" lines can only hold so much. Good thing I worked at a Zenith factory and was good friends with the maintenance crew because I could always count on being able to borrow some heavy-duty equipment. The riskiest was the snake for 4" sewers (almost escaped me). I had a tree directly over the main sewer line.

I’ve always appreciated the qualities of fresh air which I’m enjoying now (and the flowers of my orange and grapefruit trees) in spite of allergies (just use more tissues). And I have also learned to ignore unpleasant things by re-directing my thoughts and attention. I am able to actually taste any food that I think deeply about (and also smell or experience other things that are not actually present). This is why I value all my senses so much and never do anything to damage them. I only watch cooking shows when I’m eating or about to, because I can taste every food described and do not want to be hungry when I can’t eat.

About other things, tho’ it can be very nice (although best not to mention to others what I may be experiancing at any given time).

We go to a lot of Estate Sales and some of those houses really stink. Windows open, but you wouldn’t know it in some peoples houses. It has been said that your sense of smell wanes as you get older……Oh heck, Susan I’m almost out of BB chews, may I place an order?

“It has been said that your sense of smell wanes as you get older……”

All your senses can disappear with age (that is why I take very good care of mine) I enjoy them all – even playing with them as I mentioned above. I like other things that seem strange to some other people.

I walked near the front door a bit ago and smelled the scent of damp dust that is typical of a storm out here. I may have to put those doors and windows mainly closed for tonight and the next (just looked at forcast on my Home page and next 2 nights are black clouds ant winds up to 40 MPH).
