“Seminars and lectures— to rows of fools who couldn’t begin to understand my systems.

Colleagues— laughing behind my back at the Boy Wonder.

And becoming famous— Building on my work. BUILDING ON MY WORK!"
    .
    “The M-5 must be destroyed”
    .
“Destroyed, Kirk? NO. We’re INVINCIBLE. Look what we’ve done. Your mighty starships! Four toys to be crushed as we choose—”

‘I would say, Captain, that the M5 is not only quite capable of taking care of the ship, it is also quite capable of taking care of itself.’
‘You mean it’s not going to let any of us shut it off.’

A line I’d like to have seen in Back to the Future(any one, but probably #III.)
‘Sorry Marty, I don’t know anything about snakebite venom, I’m just a particle physicist.’
    ‘But Doc!’

Get some clip on ties. That’s what I use during the rare occasions when I need to wear a suit. They are safer too.
Can you imagine a tie getting caught in a lathe? (shudder)

Exactly — clippie ties are worn by discerning techies who must buckle under to the fashion police.

Yes, I certainly can. I was running a lathe with a 12 inch chuck on it at about 2000 RPM when a suit bent over to see what was going on. We wiped his head off the wall.
