    My mother-in-law got rear-ended by a beetle some years ago while she was driving her ’72 Dodge Monaco. Creased the license plate of the Dodge. Buckled the whole front end of the bug.

    Oh! Hope your mother-in-law wasn’t hurt. I had just the opposite experience. I T-boned my math teachers Lincoln Town Car doing about 10 mph in the snow. The Town Car was totaled-the— whole side of the car buckled and creased down the middle. My ’86 Golf had a fist sized dent on the front corner

    That’s like the second deer I hit some years ago. 1979 Caprice. Deer spun through the air. Dented the plate a bit.
    .
    A silly story. Be careful what you ask God for. It’s incredibly rare that I have trouble staying awake while driving. For whatever reason, this trip from portland to Klamath Falls, about the time I got to highway 58, I was having trouble staying awake. Tried to get some caffeine at Chemult, but everything was shut down that time of night back then.
    .
    Just south of Chemult, I prayed for Lord to help keep me awake. I had just finished when a half-grown deer bolts out of the woods and SMACK! it goes spinning through the air and into the trees on the other side of the road.
    .
    the adrenaline from that lasted the next 65 or so miles to Oregon Tech. It did keep me awake, all right.
    .
    thank God, but hard on the deer.

    @cheap day return

    We can thank the Germans for it. There is a picture of the first people car and Adolf Hitler beaming with delight. Thankfully he is gone and his necrophilic regime, but the great car is still here. Though I miss the ones that could float.
