    In painting, the complement to blue is orange. Adding the two together should create black.
    Which would indicate another mood altogether.

    In the RGB-CMY colour cube used in monitors and printers, the opposite of Blue is Yellow. This is probably a more scientifically accurate opposite than the ‘Orange’ given by painters.

    In essence red, yellow, blue since green = yellow = blue, orange = red + yellow, and purple = red + blue.
