I’ve never noticed that in real life. The people with compassion were normally for controlled capitalism (no monopolies plus regulation, sort of like it was 30 years ago) because it provided people with a way to better their own situations. The people who were selfish wanted Socialism because they could get something for nothing, act like bestial beasts, and hurt others, but still call it the “greater good.”

People who start evil generally stay on that path, becoming worse over time. It’s a shock when you meet someone who you went to high school with that was just getting into evil and 25 years later, they are just a bundle of hatreds and rage, seething, looking for an excuse to explode. Brrrrr.
