The idea hit him like a ton of brick.

Nice, cheap, cookie-cutter homes! —Except for the part about smelling like Sly’s socks….

Why didn’t that two ton brick go through the floorboards when it fell out of the chute? (Or damage the concrete if it’s a concrete floor)

Well, it seems to be in the basement, so I’m going to guess concrete floor. Not knowing the speed of ejection, it’s hard to determine if any damage should have ensued.
I suppose now we’re due for a lecture on concrete composition and properties anyway.

Never mind the brick, what happened to Dilbert’s laboratory?
    .
I had long since forgotten it existed. We only see him in his cubicle today.

Comic strip physics: A black hole will eventually be created.
    .
Real life physics: The compactor would break.

I wonder if it is that strong could he feed it coal and make diamonds?

So the next challenge for ’Dilbert’s Lab’ is to enhance the aroma of the brick. Multiple scents should be available. Lemon, vanilla, fresh linen, april showers, …oops, sorry, I was getting carried away.
