Artist Joe Staton and writer Mike Curtis co-author "Dick Tracy," the classic comic strip distributed by Tribune Media Services.
Created by Chester Gould in 1931, "Dick Tracy" is one of America's most-enduring pop-cultural icons, noteworthy for its steadfast, chisel-jawed hero and the gruesome gallery of villains he and his fearless team of Crimestoppers must outwit to put behind bars.
When longtime "Dick Tracy" artist and writer Dick Locher retired from the strip after 32 years of meritorious service, fans Staton and Curtis jumped at the chance to don the yellow fedora and trench coat. Staton has been drawing comic books for many years and has more than 1,000 credits under his belt. Curtis, who has been writing comics since 1986, is the only former law-enforcement officer to work on "Dick Tracy." Both creators are excited about the new--and dangerous--adventures they have in store for Dick Tracy and his Crimestoppers.

Panel 3 has me confused…

Nice Crimestoppers Textbook entry. Here in North Carolina, we have the uniformed Highway Patrol and the plainclothes NC State Bureau of Investigation. The latter tends to be understaffed and underfunded.

As for this ‘1st’ thing, I’ve already read and commented on five comics before I came here. You guys just aren’t holding up your end. ;-)

Which panel are you calling number one? I understand them all pretty well.

Terry, I count the Crimestoppers as #1.

Panel 3 shows Double Up’s wip cracking. We can see his shadow on the big screen TV in Mr. Crimes HQ. Another, Scarlet Sting film has started, although both Double Up and Davey are now to preoccupied to pay it any attention.
Panel 4 shows that the whip has hit Blaze on the arm and given her a red welt.

DoubleUp is going to be the death of somebody! Maybe himself. I don’t think Blaze Rize likes being tagged by his whip. Remember, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!

Doubleup deserves at least two deaths. Two deaths!

It would be perfect if Blaze finished Doubleup with a double-barreled shotgun.

Doubleup is too good a bad guy to die, bad guy to die.

I’m sure she has a Lady Smith in her little purse. Whacking her with that whip might be Doubleup’s big mistake. After all, she’s in the company of “the man with the fuzzy n**s”, as they used to say.

“nuts”, in case some of the younger folks didn’t catch it.

No confusion here. I only wish we didn’t have to wait for this to play out! I want to keep reading and reading. This book would be way to good to put down. Come on, guys, how about that graphic novel?
