“When one watches some tired hack on the platform mechanically repeating the familiar phrases – bestial atrocities, iron heel, blood-stained tyranny, free peoples of the world, stand shoulder to shoulder – one often has a curious feeling that one is not watching a live human being but some kind of dummy, the appropriate noises are coming out of his larynx, but his brain is not involved.” George Orwell, back in the last century, speaking about… But wait, aren’t these words relevant today? Are some ‘values’ and unfortunate ‘ambitions’ passed along generation to generation?

Obamacare was already funded, so right out of the box the right wingers protest was pointless. However that hasn’t stopped them from shutting down America. Way to go right wing zealots.

^80% private debt, mortgages, car payments, credit cards, but Onguard has none of those, right?

Ongaurd has about right, but misses his own point there really is a need to get the freeloaders, the ones who pay less than their employees, the ones who funnel money off shore to save on taxes, the ones who have the lowest tax rate in the country, while Ongaurd wants to pay more and most likely will. after all some one must pay. but it won’t be them.

Yep, nice graph showing that income inequality is a much bigger problem here than in Switzerland. Taxing all kinds of income at the same progressive rates would help greatly. As for the cartoon, I was amused to hear conservative representatives saying that Obama was “demagoguing” the debt limit increase. Really? He’s backed up by every credible economist and business leader. Unlike conservatives saying that Obamacare will “destroy” America. Really? Has Massachusetts been destroyed by Romneycare yet? They actually like the program.

And, according to Schultz, it’s not fair to ask about its progress.
