It’s mostly the locals who ARE protesting, though the outside agitators who are more violent are getting more press. It would help if the police would release the incident report, and finally interview the witnesses to the shooting, to acknowledge that an unarmed teen being shot with six bullets DOES actually raise questions. Also, going back to “policing” instead of “armed occupation” would give the agitators no obvious targets for rage.

The protesters made up their mind the instant brown broke the police officers face and went for his gun. It was obviously an over reaction on the part of the police.

If you look at the direction of the bullet pattern on Brown’s body, it looks as the officer was firing repeatedly in a short order to try to get him to stop, with the recoil bringing the pistol up with each shot. He had only two to three life-threatening shots, all in the head. The rest, on a 300-pound guy, while would hurt and bleed, wouldn’t fell him in a single hit. And when you’re adrenaline is pumping, you pull that trigger until the attacker falls down.

In the Corps, they have what’s called a failure drill… two to the chest, and one in the head. You ensure the enemy is dead before you put the weapon back on safe. Pretty certain that’s what happened here.

Now, your argument does have merit if all the bullet wounds were center mass or in the head. But this clearly was “shoot until stopped coming.” If you get beaten in the head and face by a 300-pound attacker, you don’t take chances when he comes back for round two.

At this point, I doubt there will be any justice: either for Brown or Wilson. Too many Kool Aid addicts on both sides have too much invested in their party’s version of events. It will be years before what actually occured is figured out.
