It will be morbidly fascinating to watch the Republicans tear each other apart. The media has gotten a lot better at digging into the real stories, but we’ll all need to be on our guard from the old-fashioned political bag of dirty tricks: innuendo, planted evidence, misdirection, false equivalency, strategic omissions, false flag, and swift-boat operations (to name as few).
All this reminds me of ‘The Sand Pebbles’ movie. The Republican Party is the freshly painted (white, of course) gunboat, plowing bravely into troubled waters, gleaming with polished brass and equally-polished guns, manned by a spit n’ polished crew snapping in salute to the flag… and the whole contraption is a facade, nothing but image, kept together by coolies who can’t speak the same language, let alone share the same values.
Along comes the Republican hero (Steve McQueen), who is a Maverick and an expert mechanic. He improves the efficiency of the ship, and talks to and encourages the coolies… acts for which he is ostracized by the rest of the crew, who sees no problems, and want to keep things exactly the way it is.
Republicans have to nominate a candidate who gets more votes than the other guy. Ain’t gonna happen if they only allow a small gene pool – unless they can cut down on the number of people who won’t vote Republican. Strange how that happens, huh?

Condi? The Enabler in Chief? What a vivid imagination. Then again, all the expert Republican prognosticators predicted a win (no, a landslide) for Romney, didn’t they?
