You must mean the Republican members of the House who voted to shut down the government knowing that only “essential” personnel would be allowed to continue to work. Personnel like that “bureaucrat” who isn’t getting paid.

A bureaucrat? Get your war story straight, Willie. A fraction of the House of Representatives, all Republican, attempted to take hostage a law that had been passed by Congress three YEARS ago, tested in the Supreme Court, legally financed and appropriately implemented. That House FRACTION shut down the government as surely as General McArthur shut down the US presence in the Philippines in the face the Japanese Invasion. A bureaucrat may have delivered you the NEWS, but no bureaucrat made the big decision. Wise up, Wille. Do some reading. Switch off the Glen Gold Rush Fox ‘News’ and think for yourself.

It took more resources to shut down a normally unguarded monument (paid for with private donations, BTW), than to just keep it open. Obama steps in it again.

You are really showing your ignorance here Wm , Willie and Joe was a comic strip during WW2. Back when Americans respected their Veterans. And the law passed and approved as you state is no longer as it was passed and approved , Obama has made 19 changes since it was reviewed by SCOTUS. BTW the order to barricade the memorial came from the White house office of budget Mgmt. , in clear words the President!

Many of those changes were also illegal, since he is not allowed to decide what parts to enforce and what parts to ignore, unless they are unconstitutional. But what you’re missing here, wm, is the fact that the PEOPLE still don’t want it. We never have. And the Republicans are the only ones listening. Just because something is legal doesn’t make it right. Like I said in another thread, wait for Tax-Time 2014 and then you’ll see anger spike.

First time in any government shutdown. 2 things can be gleaned from this: one the President’s contempt for his countrymen and 2nd his reliance on their ignorance and willingness to “blame republicans”.

As you know, Dana, the bureaucrat you put down closed the site because the tea party succeeded in anarchy. Change “bureaucrat” to “Republican” and your exploitation of Willy and Joe will be justified. As is, you are no better than Michelle Bachman.

Also back when Congressmen were civil to each other. Republicans are holding the country hostage withe their my way or my way tactics. The collateral damage from that includes closing access to memorials even to deserving veterans.

While it is technically true that the memorial is always open, because it is located in a National Park, access to it is closed due to the Republican shutdown.

This is a brilliant graphic…my Father-in-law would have loved it…

    A nice tribute.

As for the shut-down… there’s only one “side” that is refusing to negotiate, and it’s not the House.

Boehner did it, no need to “blame Bush” on this one.

The HoR is tasked with initiating spending bills and impeaching officials such as the President. Maybe it is time the HoR gets busy…

I think you are combining two posts from two different people. I replied to wmconnely , I am not he and he is definitely not us? BTW , one reason the changes made by Obama to the AHCA have not been questioned I do cover in another comment on a different toon.

This would be a better cartoon if the Park Service had followed Republican orders and actually prevented the vets from going in, but they didn’t. They quietly made an exception, while following the law with regard to other tourists. But you won’t see that on the right-wing media, will you? Of course not!
